Zulma Grijalba, Registered Intern

Zulma

I help individuals and couples navigate emotional challenges, trauma, and relationship stress with a grounded, compassionate, and neuroscience‑informed approach. As a bilingual clinician fluent in English and Spanish, I strive to create a safe and culturally attuned space where clients feel understood and supported.

My dual master’s degrees in Human Services Administration and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, along with my work as a holistic wellness coach, give me a deep understanding of the emotional and systemic challenges people face and the practical tools needed to overcome
them. My background also includes medical studies, and I specialize in neuroscience and complex trauma, which allows me to understand how the brain, body, and emotional experiences interact during healing. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, I also bring lived
experience that deepens my understanding of the real‑life challenges people face. This integrated approach helps clients build resilience, clarity, and confidence as they move toward a more grounded, thriving life.

I use EMDR and Brainspotting to help clients process emotional pain, reduce overwhelm, and reconnect with a sense of clarity and inner strength. These approaches access the deeper parts of the brain where trauma and emotional patterns are stored, allowing healing to unfold at a profound level. My work is especially supportive for individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, or major life transitions, including those coping with serious medical diagnoses. I use the Gottman Method to help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection in a practical and supportive way.

Clients often describe me as warm, steady, and deeply attuned, someone who listens with care and helps them feel grounded while moving through difficult experiences.
