We specialize in Couples Counseling/ Individual Counseling / Trauma/ Teens

Couples:

Whether you are coming in for individual counseling or as a couple, our goal is to understand how you are feeling, identify areas of focus and provide tools and coping skills to heal the pain of feeling unheard or disrespected in your relationship to the person you love.  Part of healing infidelity is talking about the questions your partner might have and work on a new beginning.  Some of our primary areas in counseling is  communicating feelings and needs, de-escalation techniques and active listening skills. Helping both to feel appreciated for what you do inside and outside the home and as a parent.  Between sessions, assignments are defined to help you practice in your everyday life what you have just learned to improve your relationship, to enforce your boundaries with your partner of family or improve productivity at work.

We specialize in couples through several different aspects that include talk therapy, solution focused therapy, effective communication, conflict resolution, reducing defensiveness and/or criticism  We help to  identify your love languages and that of your partner, underlying triggers, wants and needs. Let's work together in bringing back the joy and intimacy that helped you fall in love.  If there has been infidelity, let's heal and trust again.

TEENS:

With teens we help them express how they feel, identify if their procrastination is really ADHD and not that they are ignoring you or forgetting each time you ask them to do something. We are catching adult ADHD that others did not catch which could be the reason your partner forgets things and procrastinates.

From the owner:

As the the owner of LMC,  I am trained in Gottman Level 3 for couples. Gottman is well known in our industry as one of the best therapies for couples.  I also practice Solution Focused Therapy which can reduce tension and increase partner satisfaction and intimacy, making a difference in a short amount of time. Reducing anger gets you heard and when you are heard you get results and feelings of respect and appreciation. I want to help you feel better asap because you have already have to much on your plate.

Individually :

We can explore your needs and goals and work towards them. Lately, anxiety has been on the increase after Covid which has impacted many due to isolation and worry off the unknown. We can help reduce anxiety and depression with EMDR therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)  to change one's inner thoughts to a “can do” attitude and heal from the “Im sorry you never got growing up because the abuse and neglect was not ok as a child and definitely not now as well as an adult in a relationship. The need to feel loved, respected and valued could still be a childhood need that never healed.

Practice Info:

We are over 15 Family Therapists that provide caring, empathy and compassion in the Lake Mary area/ Seminole and Volusia counties and we are well known for the difference and compassion we can provide treating and helping everyone we can. At Lake Mary Counseling, therapy can be valuable before marriage, during marriage, or when considering separation. Counseling can help you identify what you feel and why you feel that way to make changes if needed or enforce your boundaries. We work on increasing intimacy and feeling heard by doing things together again where the connection is reestablished.

I'm passionate about my staff and I hire those that provide compassion and empathy to help make a difference. I treat my staff and clients with respect and patience that everyone deserves. My specialization and 20 yr exp. Is in helping couples communicate in a healthy and respectful manner and be able find the time for quality conversations and intimacy while reducing the resentment, defensiveness or stonewalling that could have developed over time from feeling neglected, unheard or from infidelity.

You both have worked hard for your careers but now need some tools to reduce the tension in the relationship and you both dont have the energy to engage in what seems like never ending arguments for attention and help with the chores or with the children if they are still living at home. You also need time and space for yourself to unwind before engaging in topics that seem never ending.

I will help you both to feel heard and respected by verbalizing feelings and needs in a way and time that the other is able to be receptive. Im passionate to make a difference, to translate what Im hearing you both say so the other can hear you better. Im passionate to find solutions and not keep you both in counseling longer than you need.

In individual counseling I can help you with boundaries, heal and help you express yourself better with love ones or teens that never seem to listen and together we will work on reaching your life goals and explore your love language.

Im trained in EMDR therapy to reduce stress and anxiety from work, grief, infidelity or a childhood of abuse or neglect. My style is gently direct, mutually engaged with a touch of humor when appropriate and very down to earth.

    Personal:

Im Hispanic and Catholic from NYC and pursued real estate sales and law before finding my calling in counseling and changing lives and mine in the process. Been married 18 years to a great man who is an executive as an electric engineer. We both have grown children and now puppies to love.

If we are not watching relationship shows to discuss them together or psychological thrillers, we are traveling to NC or boating.

      Bilingual in Spanish

I am Ashley. I am a bilingual EMDR therapist who helps people heal from unhealthy relationships, anxiety, challenging childhoods, and other distressing experiences.

Coping skills can be helpful, but the clients I work with want to get to the root of their issues because other “band-aid” or temporary approaches haven’t worked. While the problems you face may feel heavy, I weave creativity, compassion, and humor into our work together so you can feel more peace and insight and less anxiety and depression. I believe the answers you are looking for are already inside of you and I am here to help you on the journey of self-discovery.

I enjoy working with both young adults and older adults as well as couples who are hoping to get insight into the “why” behind their issues and understand the “how” they can move towards peace, clarity, and confidence. The people I work with are often struggling with childhood or relational trauma and its effects, such as anxiety, relationship issues, feeling disconnected, depressed, or with low self-esteem. In our sessions, you'll explore the source of your issues, learn coping skills to manage your daily life, and get to a place of insight, increased confidence, and healthier relationships. Our work together will include attachment, parts work and IFS, EMDR, CBT, or Gottman, depending on your needs.

I believe you are the expert on your story; therefore, the floor will be yours to explore at your comfort and pace. I understand healing can be painful and uncomfortable but overall worthwhile.

I value helping clients through their thoughts, feelings, and emotions while also supporting them through life transitions, relationship hurdles, and identity exploration. I believe it’s important to recognize the range of emotions we experience and not frame emotions as “bad” or getting rid of them but instead recognize them as a normal part of life even if unwanted at times. I emphasize the use of holistic wellbeing and meeting you where you are in your healing journey to establish a genuine rapport, understand your perceptions of the world, and curate individualized therapy. Our first few sessions will be about gathering information and building our foundation together so we can begin navigating challenges and help you evolve toward your goals.
